Manufacturing Engineer II

Our client, a Medical Device company is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Metals Business Unit 1 team in Galway Ireland.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support to Manufacturing, and the development of existing and new process technologies within the business unit. We innovate and co-create solutions with our customers to make better and safer medical devices for their customers, physicians and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Manufacturing line support to production.
  • Lead Improvement Projects addressing yield, efficiency and capacity.
  • Lead projects for new equipment and process introduction and qualification
  • Identify and implement solutions to quality and technical issues.
  • Improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Responsible for managing the overall equipment performance (OEE) through the appropriate use of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Investigate new process technologies and evaluate potential competitive advantage and the cost benefit of introduction.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing procedures as required.
  • Implement equipment maintenance procedures for critical equipment.
  • Meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as yield, throughput and productivity.
  • Ensuring adherence to high quality compliance and H&S standards

Qualifications:

  • Must have L8 Bachelors Degree in an Engineering, Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role (preferable)
  • Previous experience working within Medical Devices industry.
  • Project management experience with demonstrated ability to plan, organise and manage multiple priorities.
  • Practical understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Proficient in Equipment Introduction, Development, and Project Management.
  • Knowledge of ISO & FDA compliance
  • Catheter assembly, laser processing, and automation expertise preferred.
  • SolidWorks /AutoCAD skill would be an advantage.
  • Good Communication skills
  • Experience of equipment and process qualification
  • Demonstrate operating knowledge of Minitab software, (advantage)
