Principal Automation Engineer - Medical Device Industry (Cork)
Overview
This is a permanent role for a Principal Automation Engineer responsible for driving automation and innovation, with technical oversight of multiple projects. The role demands expertise in automation solutions, leadership capabilities, and strategic thinking to improve operational efficiency and product quality in the medical device industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of automation systems.
- Oversee engineering programs from concept to production, ensuring integration with cross-functional teams.
- Mentor engineers, driving a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Develop and implement automation frameworks, troubleshooting issues, and creating standardized documentation.
- Stay updated on industry trends and drive continuous improvement.
- Support code reviews, track project milestones, and proactively manage risks.
Qualifications
- BS in Engineering; advanced degrees preferred (Master's, Black Belt, or PhD).
- Minimum of 8 years of automation engineering experience.
- Proven leadership in automation projects, especially with tools like PLC, SCADA, HMI.
- Expertise in automated control systems (Allen Bradley & Siemens), robotics, and industrial automation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in the medical device industry and automated packaging or related processes is advantageous.
