Job Summary
Our client, a leading innovator in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Process Engineer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of critical process steps and contribute to key business objectives in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Quality, Supply, and Cost optimisation. The successful candidate will lead efforts in process stability through Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) and Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP), collaborating with cross-functional teams on impactful projects across New Product Introduction (NPI) and Manufacturing Engineering.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Engineering Support

  • Drive achievement of business metrics by providing engineering expertise for value stream processes.
  • Enhance safety and quality by developing robust engineering solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce costs through effective scrap, reprocessing, and consumable projects.
  • Design and develop specialised tools, fixtures, and equipment in partnership with Toolroom Technicians and external vendors.
  • Utilise structured methodologies to develop stable and capable manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing specifications.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Champion a strong safety culture within the team and wider site.
  • Manage contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with site safety standards.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with local and corporate HSE requirements through thorough assessments and documentation.

Quality Assurance

  • Exhibit expertise in validation requirements for new consumables, materials, and process modifications.
  • Maintain manufacturing specifications and ensure timely resolution of quality actions (e.g., Audits, NCRs, CAPAs).
  • Oversee process development in line with the Quality Management System.

Supply Chain Support

  • Support daily operations and achieve timely action closure by participating in pulse walks.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions to resolve supply and quality issues using tools like 8D and Six Sigma.
  • Provide accurate project reporting, ensuring projects meet deadlines and deliver results.

Cost Management

  • Manage the consumables budget for the value stream, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Lead structured scrap reduction initiatives through data-driven problem-solving.
  • Identify and lead cost and technical improvements under the continuous improvement programme.
  • Contribute to the development of value stream mapping to support the business plan.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and People Management

  • Engage and collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members to support daily operations and project needs.
  • Demonstrate leadership and foster a team ethos within the Engineering department.
  • Cultivate a positive culture based on the Credo & Behavioural Standards.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Partner with the Team Lead or Manager to shape and deliver strategic engineering goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to the implementation of engineering and plant-wide strategic initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or a relevant Science discipline, with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver significant projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Strong leadership qualities and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in understanding technical challenges and developing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
