EHS Engineer
Role Overview
A new global health technology company is being formed, building on strong industry leadership, innovation, and collaborative customer relationships. This role as an EHS Engineer is part of the transition and contributes to the success of the evolving organization. The EHS Engineer will support health and safety initiatives, manage risk, and contribute to sustainability and environmental programs in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Lead activities that develop and enhance safety practices within assigned areas.
- Participate in audits, training sessions, incident reporting, safety assessments, and project development under the Global Safety and Health Plan (GSHP).
Communication:
- Build a support network across facilities, manufacturing, warehousing, and engineering teams.
- Provide consulting services on health and safety programs.
- Analyze and report critical EHS data to senior management, collaborating to establish project goals and corrective actions.
Leadership:
- Drive risk management by overseeing the site’s risk assessment schedule and ensuring ongoing improvement.
- Implement and monitor Management of Change processes to integrate EHS requirements into new projects.
- Provide technical guidance to teams within the business unit as needed.
Corporate Initiatives:
- Foster a culture of EHS excellence by supporting sustainability and environmental management initiatives.
- Support business units in interpreting and adhering to EHS standards, utilizing tools like the Tier Board process.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate).
- Comprehensive understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Engineering qualifications or skills are advantageous.
- Experience with occupational health and wellbeing programs (e.g., Mental Health First Aid) is a plus.
- 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
