A leading biopharmaceutical facility in North Dublin is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to develop and implement a cutting-edge Electrical Maintenance Programme. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in maintaining compliance and safety in a state-of-the-art facility while contributing to impactful projects in a highly regulated environment.

Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), spearheading the development of a structured Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Programme. The role ensures the facility’s electrical infrastructure is maintained to the highest industry standards, fully compliant with European Electrical Standards and ETCI Rules and Regulations, using advanced tools like Maximo CMMS.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Systems Management

  • Identify all High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) systems across the site.
  • Create and maintain architectural CAD drawings, mapping electrical systems from incomers to sub-boards with consistent labelling.
  • Develop a dedicated hierarchy for life-support systems, including emergency lighting, fire alarms, and gas detection systems.

Preventative Maintenance Programme

  • Update and manage the Maximo CMMS with comprehensive details for all electrical systems and assets.
  • Document preventative maintenance job plans to ensure full compliance with European standards.
  • Develop and oversee maintenance schedules for electrical PPE safety equipment and tools.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Create and maintain site Electrical Maintenance SOPs aligned with European standards.
  • Develop a complete library of electrical manuals and handover packs.
  • Ensure compliance with updates to electrical standards and emerging technologies.

Project Support and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and coordinate power-down/up activities with a focus on safety, GMP compliance, and minimal disruption.
  • Provide expert input on multidisciplinary projects and electrical system designs.
  • Review and validate electrical project handovers to ensure seamless integration and accurate documentation.

Safety and Compliance

  • Maintain up-to-date ARC Flash studies and associated safety signage.
  • Develop and manage the site ATEX register, PM programme, and compliance assessments.
  • Oversee inspections and maintenance for critical systems, including UPS, emergency lighting, and fire alarms.

Continuous Improvement

  • Assess and recommend improvements to the facility’s electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure repairs meet compliance requirements and the highest quality standards.
  • Represent the electrical programme during inspections and audits.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, OR
  • National Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering and a Degree in Management.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as an Electrician, with proven expertise in electrical systems maintenance.

Key Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of European electrical standards and ETCI regulations.
  • Proficiency in Maximo CMMS and CAD software.
  • Strong project management and risk assessment skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and act as a recognised SME.
