Advancing Safety and Sustainability for a Better Tomorrow
We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager I for a defined term (18 months) to join our team.
Job Purpose:
Lead and advise on environmental health and safety (EH&S) matters, ensuring workforce safety and environmental protection while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with EH&S regulations.
- Implement and maintain EH&S systems, including adherence to ISO 45001 standards.
- Lead and develop EH&S specialists in a high-performance, matrixed organization.
- Inspire and motivate employees and contractors across all operational areas.
- Oversee EH&S aspects of facilities projects in compliance with construction regulations.
- Drive strategic initiatives to enhance EH&S performance and sustainability.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to establish EH&S objectives.
- Develop a multi-year strategic plan to achieve environmental goals.
- Establish and maintain metrics to measure EH&S system effectiveness.
- Manage all aspects of the Occupational Health program in coordination with HR.
- Coordinate EH&S emergency response efforts, ensuring effective governance.
- Implement safety risk management processes for hazardous materials and electrical systems.
- Oversee governance of employee case litigation and settlements.
- Collaborate with EH&S counterparts globally to leverage resources and improve performance.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (Level 8 Honours) in Occupational Health & Safety or related field, with 10+ years of experience.
- Postgraduate qualification in EH&S highly desirable.
- Professional certifications such as CMIOSH preferred.
- Deep understanding of EH&S legislative requirements and best practices.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience leading EH&S teams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage EH&S activities effectively.
