Job Title: Calibration/Metrology Technician III

Position Overview:
A leading organisation in the medical device and regulated industries is seeking a skilled and motivated Calibration/Metrology Technician III to join its dynamic team in Galway. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with expertise in calibrating, testing, and maintaining a variety of electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro-mechanical, and pressure-type measuring instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
Calibrate electronic test measuring equipment and signal-generating devices to conform to established standards.
Perform testing, calibration, adjustment, and maintenance of precision measuring equipment, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering requirements.
Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace defective parts of equipment such as pressure gauges and tension meters.
Develop calibration sequences, methods, and procedures based on established standards and client specifications.
Monitor and verify quality according to statistical process control procedures and other quality assurance protocols.
Provide technical support in areas including production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, and process improvement.
Utilize schematics, diagrams, and written/verbal instructions to troubleshoot electronic and mechanical components.
Collect, compile, and manipulate technical data using established formulae, performing detailed mathematical calculations as required.
Execute minor projects, interpret data, and generate comprehensive reports for supervisor review.
Required Skills and Experience:
ASQ Certified Calibration Technician.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, preferably within medical device or other regulated industries.
Proficiency in DMAIC problem-solving and strong analytical capabilities.
In-depth knowledge of calibration and measurement principles, including measurement uncertainty, traceability, SI units, and measurement system analysis (MSA).
Familiarity with calibration equipment standards, including test uncertainty ratio and test accuracy ratio analysis.
Competency in both English and Metric measuring systems, with the ability to perform mathematical conversions.
Hands-on experience maintaining equipment service records and system logs.
Understanding of regulatory standards, including FDA 21 CFR Part 820 cGMP, ISO 13485, ISO 10012, and ISO 17025.
Knowledge of NIST, BIPM, NCSL, ASTM, ASME, or other metrology and measurement standards.
Strong organisational and communication skills with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating initiative and independent judgement.
