Location: Mayo

Shift: Continental Shift, 2 x 12-hour days followed by 2 x 12-hour nights (8 days rotate - 4 days on, 4 days off)

Overview: As a Manufacturing Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving daily performance management at the shop floor level. This position involves coaching, guiding, and developing a team of up to 20 associates to achieve and exceed production, safety, quality, service, and cost objectives. Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will implement policies, corrective actions, and foster team growth within a dynamic team-based environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations:

o Provide leadership to your team, coaching them to meet safety, quality, service, and cost goals within a framework of continuous improvement.

o Resolve issues promptly by managing relationships with support functions and ensuring compliance with company policies.

o Conduct performance reviews, offer constructive feedback, and support personal development and conflict resolution.

o Uphold and promote organisational culture and values, ensuring all training requirements are met.

  • Engagement:

o Monitor team metrics, providing developmental coaching for future leaders.

o Recognise and reward achievements using approved programs.

o Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.

  • Production Oversight:

o Ensure a safe work environment, monitoring safety conditions and leading incident investigations.

o Drive improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs) and machine production rates through continuous improvement initiatives.

o Monitor daily performance and efficiency, addressing issues to meet quality and delivery schedules.

o Participate in Tier meetings and lead efforts to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Staffing and Resource Planning:

o Manage staffing levels and cross-training initiatives to execute operational plans effectively.

o Collaborate with the Manufacturing Supervisor to identify and develop necessary skills within the team.

o Conduct interviews and make recommendations for team positions.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Active presence on the manufacturing floor, overseeing operations and ensuring standards are met.
  • Leadership experience in a team-based environment with public speaking requirements.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written), critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and travel as needed.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in job responsibilities and operational knowledge.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Level 7) in a relevant field (e.g., Supervisory Management) or commitment to pursue relevant coursework.

Specialised Skills/Technical Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and trust-building skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems and shop floor data acquisition.
