Senior R&D Engineering Manager
The Senior R&D Engineering manager is a functional business leader responsible for R&D engineering team to execute critical development projects. You will be accountable for the engineering staff in Galway and are expected to create a high performing team culture. Additionally, you will formulate partnerships with cross functional Core Team members to foster collaboration and cross-functional effectiveness. You will be the key champion in planning, directing, and coach team members This position is hybrid with a 4 day per week onsite requirement.
A Day in The Life Of:
- Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products.
- May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
- Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
- Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
- Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
- Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
- Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
- Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Mentor team members to ensure each team member is fully engaged and contributing to project success.
- Champion product development best practices such as collecting high-quality Voice of Customer inputs, early risk burn-down and Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM).
- 25% or less domestic/international travel.
Key Skills & Experience
- Level 8 Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 5 years relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience
- Experience of people management of engineers including 1-1's, performance review’s, recruiting, disciplinaries, career development is essential
- A dynamic team player and influencer and can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams
- Excellent team building, communication, people management and management skills
- Extensive Program Management skills are a distinct advantage
- Dynamic team player and mentor and can work effectively and proactively on a global team
- Experienced in the medical device market and have a proven result driven record of accomplishment.
