A leading global medical device company is seeking a highly talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing team in Limerick. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the development of innovative, life-changing electro-mechanical medical devices within a regulated, high-impact environment.
You will lead electrical engineering and product design activities across the full product lifecycle — from early technology development through to commercialization — while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across a global organisation. As part of an expanding engineering group, this role offers strong career development and progression opportunities.
About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and technical leadership of electronic systems supporting advanced medical devices. You will work closely with mechanical, software, systems, and quality engineering teams to ensure products are safe, compliant, and manufacturable.
This position offers a hybrid working model, combining on-site collaboration in Limerick with flexible remote working.
Key Responsibilities
Design electronic assemblies and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for electro-mechanical medical device products.
Support projects across all development phases, from concept and design through verification, validation, and commercialization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, systems, quality) to meet project schedules and budgets.
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
Ensure designs comply with all applicable regulatory and agency requirements (UL, IEC, FDA).
Design and test for EMI/EMC compliance, electrical safety, and manufacturability.
Perform failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
Generate and maintain design specifications, test protocols, and test reports.
Participate in technical design reviews, ensuring electrical design integrity and patient safety.
About You
Hold a Level 8 degree in Engineering (BSc in Electronics or equivalent), or equivalent industry experience.
Have 4+ years’ experience in a similar electrical engineering role.
Strong electronics expertise, including analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
Experience within the Medical Device industry is a strong advantage.
Familiarity with design controls, EMC testing, and requirements documentation.
Comfortable working in a regulated environment with cross-functional and global teams.
A proactive engineer with a passion for quality, innovation, and mentoring.
