Senior Engineer 
We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join a skilled engineering team within a leading medical device manufacturing site in Spiddal, Co. Galway. The role is open to candidates from either a Manufacturing Engineering or an NPI/Process Development background, with hands-on metal laser processing experience being essential.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, sustaining and optimising laser cutting, laser welding and precision grinding processes, driving continuous improvement, and providing technical leadership and mentoring within the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of metal laser processes, including laser cutting, laser welding and precision grinding.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis and the implementation of sustainable solutions.
• Drive improvements in process capability, efficiency, quality and cost using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Lead process development, optimisation and validation activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ.
• Support new product introductions, from feasibility through to transfer into manufacturing.
• Identify, evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
• Apply risk management and statistical tools such as PFMEA, DOE and SPC.
• Mentor engineers and technicians, with team supervision for Manufacturing Engineering candidates.
• Collaborate with NPI, Quality, Operations and customers to achieve business objectives.
• Manage technical relationships with equipment suppliers and technology providers.
• Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, health, safety and environmental standards.

Candidate Profile

• Level 8 degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within medical device manufacturing or a similarly regulated environment.
• Hands-on experience in metal laser processing, particularly laser cutting and laser welding, with knowledge of grinding (essential).
• Strong tenure of experience as a senior member of an engineering team.
• Supervisory experience is advantageous for Manufacturing Engineering candidates, but not essential for NPI candidates.
• Strong knowledge of process validation, GMP, ISO 13485 and quality systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management and communication skills.
