Capital Projects Manager Athlone
The Role
Our client, a global medical technology manufacturer with a long-established site in Athlone, is hiring a Capital Projects Manager to lead CAPEX delivery across the site. The portfolio covers a live cleanroom expansion plus utilities, facilities, process equipment and decarbonisation projects.
This is a client-side role. You'll own projects end to end, from scoping and business case through to handover, in a regulated, operating manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of site CAPEX projects from concept, scoping and business case through design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover
- Manage the site cleanroom expansion, including GMP design, construction in a live environment, qualification and handover to operations
- Deliver utilities projects (HVAC, compressed air, purified water, power and electrical infrastructure)
- Deliver facilities projects, including building upgrades, fit-outs and site infrastructure
- Manage process equipment projects, covering specification, vendor selection, FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ/PQ
- Drive decarbonisation and energy reduction projects in line with site sustainability targets
- Own project budgets, schedules, risk registers and change control, and report progress to site leadership
- Manage contractors, consultants and vendors, including tendering, contracts and on-site performance
- Work with Operations, Quality, EHS, Engineering and Finance to keep projects compliant and to minimise disruption to production
- Make sure all project work meets EHS requirements, including construction safety and permit-to-work
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
- 7+ years' project management experience, including client-side delivery of capital projects
- Track record of delivering projects in a regulated environment (medical device, pharma or biopharma) under GMP, ISO 13485 or FDA requirements
- Hands-on experience with cleanroom builds or upgrades (ISO Class 7/8) is highly desirable
- Strong technical knowledge of site utilities, facilities and process equipment
- Experience with energy efficiency or decarbonisation projects is an advantage
- Confident managing budgets, schedules and multiple projects at once
- Experience managing contractors and vendors, including procurement and contracts
- Working knowledge of construction safety, and of PSDP/PSCS duties under Irish regulations
- A formal PM qualification (PMP, PRINCE2 or similar) is an advantage
Package
- Competitive salary
- Bonus, pension and healthcare
- A broad, high-visibility CAPEX portfolio at a long-established global medtech site
