Position Title: Project Engineer
Department: Engineering & Technology
Reports to: Senior Manager, Engineering

Job Purpose:

The Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading and coordinating projects focused on Process Improvements, Automation, Aseptic Processing, and integrating New Processing equipment with facility modifications. Responsible for ensuring projects meet predefined goals and deadlines within budgetary constraints, the Project Engineer reports directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering, receiving guidance to achieve equipment and facility design objectives.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Coordination

  • Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure timely delivery of processing equipment such as Packaging, Assembly, Inspection, Autoclaves, and Filling machines.
  • Develop User Requirement Specifications and manage Vendor selection and evaluation processes.
  • Oversee Requests for Change (RCEs), procurement activities, and conduct Project Management & Design review meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME BPE 2019 Standard and relevant ISPE Guidelines.
  • Coordinate equipment installation and services hook up in collaboration with Equipment Vendors and internal Engineering teams.
  • Manage participation in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) programs and oversee equipment documentation requirements.
  • Commission equipment and provide Engineering support during qualification phases.
  • Collaborate closely with the E&T Senior Manager and System Owner/Project Team.
  • Facilitate training sessions, coordinate O&M manuals, Spare parts, and PM schedules handover.

Technical Contribution

  • Contribute to technical problem-solving forums related to Product manufacture and Aseptic fill operations.
  • Drive initiatives focused on Process improvement and cost reduction projects.

Meeting Responsibilities

  • Lead regular Project review meetings with the project team on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
  • Attend bi-weekly E&T Tier 2 meetings with the Senior Manager to report project status and discuss strategic initiatives.

Key Requirements:

Education and Experience/Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Biologics, Pharmaceuticals, or Medical device industries.
  • Proven track record in project management, demonstrating strong technical proficiency.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills within multi-functional teams.
  • Ability to articulate and deliver specific functional requirements across various disciplines.
  • Effective team leadership abilities and collaborative approach across organizational departments.

Other Requirements

  • Occasional travel (0-4 times annually) may be required for meetings, inspections, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Onsite role based in Westport, with no remote work options available
