Job Overview

The Utilities Engineer ensures reliable operation and qualified status of clean and grey utility systems in Biotech manufacturing, maintaining process control, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and improve workplace safety.
  • Act as clean system engineering expert.
  • Maintain operational and qualified state of clean systems.
  • Monitor critical parameters for clean systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting for unit operations and equipment.
  • Assess activities for impact on qualified state of equipment.
  • Support grey utility systems.
Safety:
  • Ensure safe design and operation of equipment.
  • Participate in safety audits, hazard reviews, and pre-startup safety reviews.
Technical Support:
  • Serve as technical expert for equipment and processes.
  • Optimize utility systems and equipment performance.
  • Use Root Cause Analysis to resolve issues.
  • Document and resolve equipment failures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Qualified State Maintenance:
  • Evaluate activities for impact on qualified state.
  • Manage system/component classification and maintenance strategies.
  • Implement corrective actions from investigations.
  • Lead IQ/OQ/PQ activities for new equipment.
Asset Management:
  • Develop and manage capital project scopes.
  • Address and improve equipment reliability.
  • Coach operators and technicians on equipment use.

Business Improvement:
  • Identify and implement improvements for unit operations and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ experience in Utility Engineering, preferably in a GMP environment.
  • Engineering or Science degree or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and relationship-building abilities.
  • Willingness to travel for projects and training.
  • Knowledge in Clean Utilities, Black Utilities, HVAC, or Electrical systems.
