Job Purpose
Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the provision of financial assessments and services that enable effective planning and monitoring of financial performance. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and leading the development of the local finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, half-yearly, and annual financial information to meet the needs of management, statutory bodies, and relevant authorities.
- Review and interpret sales and production plans to develop the financial components of the budget, accurately reflecting business unit objectives, including management of individual machine cost rates.
- Provide high-quality local management information and financial analysis to support improved decision-making.
- Develop and interpret all aspects of job costing, ensuring accuracy and evaluating margin performance by order and customer.
- Manage and control all components of working capital, implementing appropriate actions to optimise and minimise overall levels.
- Deliver financial appraisals of potential capital investments, ensuring only commercially viable projects are progressed.
- Recruit, lead, and develop the retained finance function, fostering a motivated, knowledgeable, and professional team.
- Ensure internal controls are robust, effective, and aligned to SARBOX requirements to safeguard company assets.
- Work closely with outsourced finance teams providing transactional support.
- Support the ongoing professional development of the local finance team.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Post-qualification experience in financial and management accounting within a high-value, high-volume transactional environment.
- Strong understanding of costing and margin analysis.
- Experience with large group reporting requirements and engagement with internal and external auditors.
- Thorough understanding of internal controls and their implementation.
- Proven ability to motivate, lead, and develop staff.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels.
- Advanced Excel modelling capability and strong presentation skills.
- Experience with consolidation processes and financial systems.
- Strong numerical and verbal reasoning skills (management level).
- People management experience (a team of three direct reports).
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrates empathetic leadership and promotes a strong team ethos.
- Influences stakeholders using logical, data-driven arguments and analysis.
Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
Working Environment
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required.
