Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their team. Job Overview
As a key member of the core Engineering group, you will report to the Site Engineering Manager and be responsible for overseeing and supporting all engineering activities within your area. Beyond the core engineering responsibilities, you will contribute to the development of systems in areas such as training, planning, staff supervision, and business processes, ensuring the overall success of the operations support team. Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety: Lead a safety-first culture with a focus on achieving zero accidents by implementing Health & Safety initiatives that align with organisational goals.
People Development: Guide, mentor, and develop your team by creating personalised development plans and managing performance. Identify and develop key talent to ensure a robust succession plan is in place.
Quality Control: Foster a 'Right First-Time' approach, driving yield improvements, reducing customer complaints, and supporting the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process.
Continuous Improvement: Instil a Continuous Improvement mindset, targeting cost reductions and increasing efficiency using Lean and Six Sigma tools to achieve site targets.
Customer Service: Ensure Exceptional Customer Experience (ECE) by consistently meeting or exceeding project commitments for both internal and external stakeholders.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Oversee and manage the New Product Introduction process in collaboration with the Prototyping and New Product Development (NPD) team.
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the Engineering strategy through talent development and the adoption of innovative technologies, ensuring the site is well-positioned for future growth.
Financial Management: Manage the engineering budget, including preparing annual budgets, implementing cost-saving initiatives, and overseeing capital expenditure for the Business Unit.
Project Leadership: Lead the team in process design, development, and continuous improvement initiatives, especially for technology transfer projects from other sites.
Identify and implement effective, permanent solutions to technical and system challenges. Compliance and External Relationships:
Ensure compliance with relevant systems and processes.
Maintain and manage relationships with key technology providers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 8 Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- 5-7 years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
Key Requirements
- Experience with Medical Device or similar manufacturing systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team in a production setting, focusing on problem-solving and delivering results.
- Strong working knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Lean Engineering principles, with a proven track record of success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and concepts clearly and positively.
- Self-driven and capable of working independently.
- Strong decision-making and execution abilities.
