Role Overview: As the Senior Manager of an R&D functional group, you will oversee product and technology development initiatives. Your primary focus will be on managerial duties, leadership, team organization, and staff development. You will provide technical leadership in product design and identifying new technology opportunities, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve both functional and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead initiatives to drive functional excellence, ensuring high-quality R&D outputs and technical excellence in product and technology development.
  • Mentor and support staff in their career growth, motivate them to meet goals, and ensure the recruitment and retention of a skilled team.
  • Manage recruitment, coaching, and the development of talent within the organization.
  • Provide expert guidance and approval on technical strategies and approaches.
  • Engage with customers and healthcare partners to understand their needs and align R&D activities.
  • Oversee the management of functional infrastructure and laboratory resources.
  • Assign tasks, manage project schedules, and ensure timely delivery of R&D outputs.
  • Develop and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Foster continued intellectual property development by both yourself and your team.
  • Manage the infrastructure requirements for the R&D function.
  • Lead internal and external technical meetings, presenting complex technical information in a clear and actionable business context.
  • Influence decision-making both internally and externally to drive department goals, building consensus and gaining support for key recommendations
Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of a BSc or BEngr degree (NFQ 8 Level, 240 credits).
  • At least 10 years of industrial experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership/management role overseeing large teams (experience in MedTech or Pharmaceuticals is a plus).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and foster innovation in an R&D setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing long-term R&D strategies that align with business objectives.
  • A strong track record in managing R&D budgets, optimizing resources, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively across departments including engineering, product development, marketing, and manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions that advance R&D initiatives.
  • Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performance R&D team.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulatory requirements and navigating regulatory processes.
