The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a dynamic Production Unit Leader to drive excellence within their operations. This pivotal role involves leading the Production Unit to ensure People, Quality, Customer Service, and Cost goals are met, while aligning with the company's strategic plan and core values. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver on the strategic objectives of the site.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality Managers to establish and execute a strategic plan for the Production Unit.
  • Lead the implementation of Lean initiatives to enhance safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Operational Excellence

  • Partner with Finance, HR, Quality, and Production Planning to optimise department performance.
  • Ensure effective communication and employee relations within the department.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Team Development

  • Determine appropriate staffing levels, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Develop cross-functional team relationships and resolve technical issues collaboratively.
  • Establish clear accountabilities, motivate staff, and promote personal development and lifelong learning. 

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage and monitor department budgets to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Optimise customer service targets, inventory levels, procurement delivery, and costs.
  • Lead functional excellence initiatives, delivering high-quality outcomes.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and GMP requirements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks to minimise negative impacts on products and projects.
  • Collaborate with EHS to manage environmental impacts and set improvement targets.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Expertise in operational excellence, lean thinking, and systems-based approaches.
  • Proven change management experience, particularly in cultural transformation.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Strategic thinking, financial acumen, and project management skills.
  • Competencies in supply chain and capacity planning.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in an operations environment, preferably within Medical Device manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience.
