Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for executing the technical aspects of projects as outlined and agreed upon with the Project Manager.

This includes providing ongoing technical support to the site team and ensuring that installations comply with the intended design, drawings, and specifications.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience: 3-6 years in the building services industry, pharmaceutical industry, or similar chemical engineering industries.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in process piping and ductwork industry codes and regulations.
Additional Skills:
Design, constructability, and commissioning reviews.
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Capability to take ownership and responsibility for tasks.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Procurement:

Prepare request for quotation (RFQ) packages for materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
Evaluate RFQ responses for compliance and report findings to the Project Manager and commercial team.
Develop and update technical submittals and procurement schedules.

Technical Reviews:

Conduct techno-commercial reviews of procurement items and material/equipment selection (e.g., AHU, chiller, heat pump, fan coil unit).
Validate, challenge, and clarify design and technical queries using the request for information (RFI) process.
Perform design, constructability, and commissioning reviews.

Project Support:

Assist in project delivery through involvement in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification (IOQ).
Review and understand Quality Plans and inspection test plans.
Develop and manage system lists and trackers.
Plan and manage site walkdowns (W0, W1, W2, W3) and inspections.
Ensure test packs are complete and ready for third-party inspection and walkdown.

BIM and Drawings:

Review the BIM model using Navisworks and coordinate drawings to ensure compliance with P&IDs and schematics.
Verify adequate access to plant and equipment for commissioning, maintenance, and replacement.
Read isometric drawings, understand weld logs, and track progress.
Redline P&IDs and schematics to reflect changes from the design intent.

Change Management:

Manage technical changes, updating logs and schedules as required.

Meetings and Coordination:

Attend technical and commissioning meetings with the design team, contractors, and in-house project team.
Verify pipe and duct sizing as needed.
Assist in developing and implementing the commissioning plan, managing equipment vendors and specialist commissioning contractors.
Track and manage commissioning activities for pipe and ductwork systems, ensuring a good understanding of cleaning, flushing, and testing procedures.
Raise and track the closure of construction and commissioning issues.
Witness and verify commissioning activities, ensuring certification aligns with specifications.
Manage the production of O&M manuals in compliance with specifications.
Develop and undertake client training as required.
